About World Veterinary Association
Dr. J. Gamgee organized the first International Veterinary Congress 150 years ago, in 1863. The World Veterinary Association (WVA) was born from this endeavor. The WVA unifies and represents the veterinary profession on a global scale. It serves as the coordinating body for national and international veterinary associations and associations of veterinarians practicing in other specialties. The WVA carries on Dr. Gamgee’s vision of bringing together veterinarians from all around the world to exchange ideas, share experiences, and work together to advance veterinary care. The WVA promotes the interests of its member organizations and their members as well as the health and wellbeing of humans and animals.
